Guanajuato - Church and Statue

Guanajuato sits in a valley and high on one side is a statue honoring a local hero, El Pípila, who set fire to the Alhondiga gates enabling the rebel forces to win their first victory of independence from Spain. The base of the statue is inscribed with "Aun hay otras Alhóndigas por incendiar" ("There are still other Alhóndigas to burn"). It's quite a hike up the narrow streets and walkways to the monument, but the view from the top is spectacular and worthwhile.
