Raramuri Boy

Raramuri men wear a breechcloth held together by a wool girdle wrapped twice around the waist. Their shirts are full sleeved and worn loose and their sandals made of rubber tire soles and leather thong ties.

The men are known for their long distance walking and running. Racing plays an important role in their culture. While we travelling down the road to Batopilas we encountered several young boys who raced our truck. They ran down the hill sides and cut the switchbacks showing obvious delight when they arrived at the next bend before us.
