| The Raramuri celebrate the Fiesta of the Virgin of Guadalupe on December 12, in honor of the Virgin Mary who appeared to a humble Aztec, Juan Diego, in 1531. Even though many Raramuri are unaware of the story of the Virgin Mary, their celebration is taken quite seriously, although it is also a time of merriment - dancing, drinking, and feasting. Images of the Virgin of Guadalupe are found as decoration everywhere. |
