Crossing the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) enroute from Panama to the Galapagos. The ITCZ is an area of unstable weather just north of the equator. On the radar you can see a typical day in the ITCZ. Heavy rain squalls surround us. We tried to avoid them when we could, but it wasn't always possible. Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and sometimes strong winds accompany these squalls.
