Chamela isn't far from Careyes, but presents quite a contrast. The beach at Chamela is lined with palapa restaurants, all serving fresh seafood that arrives on the beach in front of each one. There is also a small village beyond with several small tiendas (stores) and an excellent fish market. We bought some wonderfully sweet shrimp at that market.

Landing our dinghy on this beach presented quite a challenge. The photo doesn't show it, but the waves break heavily on the beach and can be somewhat large. We nearly flipped our dinghy taking off one time.
