| The Nuestra Seņora de La Merced church facade is the grandest in Antiqua. The construction of the church began in 1548 and improvements continued until 1717, when the church was ruined by earthquakes. Reconstruction was completed in 1767, but in 1773 another earthquake destroyed it again. Repairs were made from 1850 to 1855 and it's baroque facade dates from this period. |
