We explored the ruins of this convent with a guide who told us about the lives of young girls who were placed in the convent by their parents and never seen by their families again. It was required that the second born be sent to either the convent or the seminary. Once there, no contact with outside people was allowed and special revolving doors were installed to allow gifts and other goods to pass without anyone being able to view in or out.
