Mazatlán / Isla Marina - OfficePhotos by Jeff Robbins and Stan HustonFebruary - March 2002 |

| We stayed at this marina while we were in Mazatlán. The marina was a development project gone bad. It was intended to be an exclusive gated condominium and hotel complex. It's built on its own little island connected via a bridge. The island was going to be ringed with docks for the use of the condo owners. They still have the plans, drawings, and dioramas on display. Finances went awry while the project was underway and work stopped abruptly. Today it's left pretty-much just as it was while under construction. Building materials lie here and there and it's all unfinished with a sort-of bombed out look to it. The docks are partially finished and are rented out on a short or long-term basis to visiting yachts. Some have water, but none have electricity. It made for an inexpensive and comfortable home for the month we stayed. Very nice and friendly people, both in the office and the other cruisers. |
