What's New at SailVesper?

• Convert the "WhereAreWe" page to use Google satellite maps. I've finally replaced the position reporting system with a new one that will retain positions rather than time-out older ones and also gives me more control and flexibility.

• Make "WhereAreWe" a static page for now. A better position reporting mechanism is coming when I get a chance to finish it.

• Fixed several problems with e-mails coming from the subscription service being flagged as spam by e-mail providers. It still doesn't seem to convince hotmail though. Not sure what to do there.
• Implemented photo links within Ship's Log entries. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. It allows us to post small thumbnail photos along with log entries.
• Updated home page text and made a bunch of text and page clean-ups throughout.
• Fixed a problem where blank lines within guest book entries were lost.
• Made navigation within the guest book easier to understand and put navigation links at both the top and bottom of all pages. Also increased the number of entries displayed on each page.

• Added a new "subscription" feature that lets you enter your email address and receive automatic notifications when new Ship's Log entries are made. In addition, I expect to use this to notify folks when a new batch of photos or other significant content changes occur.

• Rework home page internal layout to better facility updates and search engines. Please let me know if the home page looks funny or broken in some way via the "Contact" window.

• I've finally posted new photos from our past season in New Zealand and Tonga including some underwater photos with whales. I've also made a few minor site enhancements.

• With the help of a very good friend the site is now back on-the-air. Sorry about the interruption. We've moved the site to a new server, so if you see something funny please let me know via the "Contact" window.
• Now that we've got the site back and running, I'm working on a new batch of photos and a new Ship's Log too. I hope to have them posted within the week.

• Change a few images on the home page
• Update home page text
• Fix a possible problem with popup windows that might be blocked on the map pages when you click off the track line or during a long passage period
• Add "Jeff's Science Projects"

• Eliminate extra slashes being displayed in the guest book
• Set initial field focus on contact and guest book forms

• Fix overlap problems with different installed fonts on the home page.
• Add the guest book.
• Update home page with latest status.

• Eliminate popup status windows for "What Does Vesper Mean" and "Where Are We" because popups are often blocked by various browsers / plug-ins.
• Add photos from New Zealand and a flying image on the home page advertising the new photos.
• Add captions for the thumbnails in the top-level photo galleries.
• Reformatting of the home page and update the text with our current happenings.
