  • Add latest photographs from Mexico, El Salvador, Copán, and Guatemala. I've switched to a new format for photo galleries, but left all the old ones as they were. It was too much work to convert everything.
  • Move some older photographs to a "Photo Archive" to make it easier to find newer ones.
  • Add new maps for Southern Mexico and Central America.
  • Update the home page text.
December 26, 2002
  • Put image rollovers on home page to facilitate navigation.

  • Change home page photo. Its been there too long.
  • Remove "New!" from photo galleries.
November 7, 2002
  • Rework the home page (once again) to try to solve display problems when different system fonts are being used. This ended up simplifying the page layout quite a bit, but as a result, it may look a little different on various systems.
November 1, 2002
  • Fix a few minor formatting problems with Netscape 7 browser. I've tried the site with both Netscape 7 and IE 6 and it seems to be working properly. Except that with Netscape (any version), the maps aren't displayed in popup modal dialogs. Instead, they appear in a new browser window. However, if anyone has any problems with a specific browser they want to use, please send me an email so I can try to fix it.

  • Change home page text to reflect the current reality. Also change the main menu items to images. This will hopefully fix some of the weird display problems that some browsers tend to have with this page.
  • Add Petey the Fly story (finally - I've been meaning to do this for a long time).
  • Add photos and text about Hurricane Kenna, a few of Puerto Vallarta, and our trip to the central Mexican highlands.
  • Update maps to reflect our inland travels and also make room for heading south.
  • Reduce the size of all maps by using different a file format. Makes the popup detail maps much faster.
  • Put detail map popups on photo gallery thumbnail pages.
August 2, 2002
  • Change banner on home page, update a few links and make minor text changes in a few places.
  • Fix some formatting problems on several pages when the browser window changes size.
  • Remove "New Photo" images since they aren't so new anymore.
  • Added popup definition for Vesper on the home page.
  • We've completed the move to sailvesper.org. Soon, the rockisland.com based web and email sites will go away. Be sure to update your favorites list and address book with our new web and email addresses.
June 9, 2002
  • Add new photo galleries for Isla Isabela, Banderas Bay Race, Gold Coast, and Manzanillo.
  • www.sailvesper.com is now up! We've now got both www.sailvesper.org and .com working. The old URL's are still working too. All of them point you to this site.
June 1, 2002
  • Fix navigation images on the log index and entry pages that were antialiased to the wrong color.
May 29, 2002
  • Finally got around to getting our own domain name (www.sailvesper.org). Our old web addresses (www.rockisland.com/~jrobbins and www.sponheim.org/~jrobbins) continue to work and they all point you here.
  • Remove "New" banners on all photo sections and the home page. They've been that way long enough.
  • Add a new map for the coast between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo.
  • Reorganize the order of bullets and rewrite text on the home page to make it visually more appealing (I hope).
April 24, 2002
  • Put the date of the last entry to the Ship's Log on the home page so you can see if there are any new entries directly from there.
  • Improve navigation buttons on the Ship's Log Index and Entry pages. Use arrows and text instead of just text.
  • Fix broken layout on California Coast and Baja gallery cover page when using certain window sizes.
  • Convert the home page to use layers instead of tables to ease future layout changes and make it smaller. This cut the size of the page in less than half, but requires you to be running Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater. Let me know if this causes a problem for you.
  • Make page background colors consistent between sections.
April 2, 2002
  • Added more detailed maps that popup when you click on an area of the "Where Have We Been?" map. This allows you to see with greater accuracy the places we've been.
  • Improved clarity of all the maps by removing extraneous details, such as roads.
  • Easier navigation and more consistent look in the "Where Are We?" page. This change puts the standard header and footer around a scrolled frame with the maps of our current location.
  • Added a section for photos of Vesper. There isn't much there yet, but stay tuned... we'll post more pictures sometime soon.
  • Updated the older photo galleries to use the newer fonts so now all the galleries are consistent in their look.
  • Added this page that tells you what's changed recently.
  • Made minor edits to fix typos in photo captions as well as update the home page text.
